SAT: Most Important Exam

So let me introduce you to the SAT, probably the most important exam you have given in your life. Before telling you anything else I want you tell that I know a senior of 3.2 GPA(NEB), no extracurriculars and nothing sort of special. But he had 1520 in the SAT and he is studying in fullride at Fisk. Like all of his living and dining expenses for 4 years are covered due to that one single exam. So if that doesn't tell you its importance what else will.

There are a lot of universities that give scholarship on the basis of SAT alone, of course, they won't be the good ones because good universities need a lot of achievements and very well-crafted personal essays. However, statistically speaking, 99% of you reading this won't go to any reputed universities, but I want you to know that even if you study in the worst university in the US, it’s probably still going to be better than Pulchowk.

So as important as SAT is, there is equally some hype about it. Believe me, it is a very easy exam.

Just be very sincere about the preparation, having a good SAT score will change your life for a lot better. In terms of the ratio of reward to effort, I believe SAT is the most highly leveraged examination that Nepalis can take after high school.

So after this, I want you to prepare very well for it. Aim for 1500+ (max) and 1360+ (min). There is one university called University of Southern Mississippi which gives full tuition on that score.

Do not fool yourself. Verify that you are not just getting the right answer, you are getting the right answers through the similar logic as given in the explanation.

The grammar part can be improved drastically in a short period of time (it's like math, follows specific rules).

The reading portion also used to repeat similar patterns, blackbook's author explained it thoroughly for the previous SAT. I am unable to speak for the digital one.

In short, if you are moderately intelligent enough, you can easily target for the 1400+ score by your self-preparation.

Do not settle for any resources just because they are popular. I didn't use KhanAcademy because it was very boring, and I had very little time. But do not take my advice on this one. Try every popular resource, be it videos or text-form, they are popular for some reason. But do not settle on any resource unless you feel you are benefited, verify them for yourself.

Try as many real questions as you can. First, understand that SAT has a certain curriculum, and questions won't be asked outside of it (be sure it’s not NEB who's making the paper). Surf Reddit and you may find enough real SAT questions.

I have not given digital SAT but it is relatively easier than paper SAT (I have prepared for it, and grass is always greener on the other side anyway😂). One thing is that I cannot give you enough resources for digital SAT (cause I used paper SAT resource for my prep) but I’ll hope someone shares it with me and I can update it later.

Some resources I have are here:

Later on the site, you can see the amount of scholarships universities give for the specific SAT. For now, just focus on improving your score above 1500. Best wishes for that.
